The Difference

The difference
open your eyes, open your ears, open your mouth open your nose, open your hands
It was a day in the summer
They decided to meet
As they did every now and then
Five friends of old
Their stories unfold
As they spoke of society’s decay
“Listen,” one said,
“to the stories I’ve heard,
People talk of misery and dread.
All manners are gone,
No polite words are said,
And everything has to be loud.”
The second one said:
“I don’t see what you mean,
What is this picture you paint?
Look all around,
See the smiles on their faces,
The sun brings a light in their eyes!”
“I feel,” said the third,
“the walls people build
They’ll push you away if they can.
The harder they hit,
The more room they get,
Boundaries are no longer there.”
“I smell,” said four,
“A fresh wind of change,
Clearing the air of it’s filth.
Don’t hold your breath,
But breathe in deep,
For the sent of renewal is here.”
The fifth added: “Sweet,
But bitter as well.
Who says change tastes good on the tongue?
Salty tears of sorrow,
Make the mouth go dry
Where is the spice of life?”
“I don’t see your point,
Such a grim image sketched.”
Said two with a gloomy face.
“Indeed,” said four,
“The current stench will fade,
Beware not to take too much in.”
“What do you mean?!” said one,
“That I stink or can’t see?
Do you not hear my concerns?”
“Don’t push it!” said three,
“Their warmth is obvious,
However cold we know the world is.”
“It’s the aftertaste of ashes,
That spoils the sweet.
It’ll all ruin our taste.”
“That’s what I mean!”
Said one to five,
“But why does nobody hear me?”

See
01:26
|
|||
See, sight, open wide
Eyes unspoiled
View untold
Shapes envisioned
Panorama’s unfold
I saw the world from every side
Zooming in on places I know
Over viewing their surroundings
Hidden places they didn’t show
How my eyes only see what they want
And notice what they like
How I see beauty where you do not
Together we see twice as much

Choice
02:06
|
|||
He walks alone through
An empty corridor
Too many things
Flash through his troubled head
People he passes
They can only guess
That look on his face
See their puzzled eyes
He passes by
An office, darkened
While images
Appear before his eyes
Faces he knew
Un-shown emotions
Linger in the air
See him wonder about
Faces can tell their soul
Fright, might, anger, resentment
Faces can tell it all
Delight, spite, hatred, enchantment
Not knowing what to find
At the end of the line
How will she see him now?
How can he look at her?
Eye to eye, they see, they know
All will be alright
Smiling to himself
Opening the door
No longer tied
Just one more look
Finally all done
He felt relieved
Out into the sun
He walked home

Taste
01:27
|
|||
Sour, taste, neutral based
Bitter sweet
Yet we feed
So delicious
Saturation within
I tasted life from dawn till dusk
Letting flavours roll on my tongue
Memories of dinners past
Remembering all the people I knew
How my lips don’t taste poison within
How your lips taste like life in the flesh
Together combining them all
|
||||

Bittersweet
02:45
|
|||
I wish I could taste
The sweetness
Of lips on mine
Now all I taste is the salt
Of my own tears
Bittersweet hints of hope
And despair
I can’t remember anymore
Because with everything
I eat or drink
A little bit fades from my lips
But however
Mind-blowing dinner
However tongue-stroking drink
But however
Lip-tingling bite
Still a memory stays
I wish I could taste
The sweetness
Of lips on mine
I almost can’t remember anymore
Still a little bit
Remains…

Smell
01:18
|
|||
Fresh, ease, smell the breeze
Flower, spring
Air they bring
Sent enfuming
Breathing it all in
I smell the ocean miles away
New grass covers the stench of the streets
Perfume clouds cross on my path
Changing air with every step
How my nose smells adventure afar
And problems right ahead
How your sent tells me where I belong
Together we reach for the sky

Sensation
02:48
|
|||
Every morning, past the bakery
Fresh baked bread, all warm and sweet
Makes me long for
Just a little bite…
Around the corner, the coffee corner
Friends they tempt me: just one cup please!
Can’t resist it
Hot, and good…
Out the front door, caught by flowers
Smell of roses, gallantly offered
Can’t help blushing
Overwhelming…
On a small bench, there in the park
All the new grass, smells like fresh green
Fills my nose and
Takes me high…
And there’s that vague sent, coming closer
Your unique smell, with some sweat too
It’s all you and
Nothing else…
My favourite smell is
I guess you can guess
That unique mixture of
Yours with mine…

Hear
01:27
|
|||
Hear, sound, echoes surround
Clicking, pound
Zooming loud
All frequencies
Carrying on the wind
I listened to the sound of today
Steps on pavement, cars on the road
Whispering or screaming out
Tracing every move that is made
How my ears only hear what is new
And forget what’s always there
How you tell me to hear what they say
Together we hear the whole story

Voices of the Past
03:14
|
|||
All my life I’ve had
Certain words that kept
Spinning through my head
Every now and then
One falls off and then
Another one is added
Thoughts are in my head
Voices of the past
Speaking as if there
Ringing in my ears
Just said once, but again
Everlasting pain
Words hurt more than wounds
Wondering was our mind just made
To rethink, still afraid
Words that mean much more than what they say
Thoughts are in my head
Voices of the past
Speaking as if there
Ringing in my ears
Don’t bring me down
I shut out your sound
Play the music loud
I’ll scream you out
Out of my head…

Feel
01:29
|
|||
Feel, touch, sense much
Skin to skin
Warm yet thin
Cool sensations
Shivering from within
I stretched my hands out to the world
Feeling every surface around
Sliding on from smooth to rough
Trembling from the life that’s within
How my feet tell me where to stand
And know where not to go
How your hold can guide me through fear
Together discover it all

Rainbow Thoughts
03:58
|
|||
The weight of endless thoughts aligned
Take away colour, gone rainbow thoughts
Birds flew away the dreams down south
Spirits ghostly down below
May worldly worries
Slide from your shoulders
May night-time take away the pain
Let daylight scare away your fears
And gentle strokes enlight your soul
Tangible things are easy to grasp
Write down thoughts for take away
Black on white, yet not to touch
Carve them in to feel for real
May worldly worries
Slide from your shoulders
May night-time take away the pain
Let daylight scare away your fears
And gentle strokes enlight your soul
Rainbow thoughts caught solid
Formed and moulded to art
Easily grasped, yet unreachable
For those who lost their touch
May worldly worries
Slide from your shoulders
May night-time take away the pain
Let daylight scare away your fears
And gentle strokes enlight your soul

What can I say
That hasn’t already been said?
What can I do
That hasn’t already been done?
To be original
Won’t tell you what I mean to say
To be outrageous
Won’t show you what I mean
Let my eyes shine their light
Let my lips sweeten yours
Let my arms reach out
And I hope you’ll see through
Let my thoughts send out
And my heart beat out loud
Let my breath hold
Then I know you’ll know
What I already told you so
I could climb the highest mountain
I could jump out of a plane
To show I’ve conquered fright of heights
What would it mean?
I could walk across the water
I could orb straight to the moon
To show I can do miracles
What would it mean?
If my eyes didn’t shine
If my arms didn’t reach
If my lips didn’t taste the sweetness of yours
Without thoughts of you
Without breathless words
No hearts beating faster
How would you know
What I already told you so
A thousand words to say
What’s already been said
Too many times before
I trust you to feel
All the ways I did sign you
So your heart will know mine
Then my eyes will shine
And my lips will sweeten yours
And my arms will reach out
And I know you’ll see through
Then my thoughts will send out
And my heart will beat out loud
And my breath will hold
Then I know you’ll know
What I already told you so
